Final Fitout Suggestions

The following are just a couple of ideas to assist with the final fit out of your new built Australian Sailfish.

Fitting - Breather.jpg

The photo above shows a couple of helpful additions. We have spoken of how important fitting a breather is, and here is one option. If you have an inspection port you can drill a small hole (3mm) through the centre of the inspection port cover to allow movement of air in and out of the boat. If you are worried about water getting in then you can fit the bowl of a plastic measuring spoon glued onto the centre of the lid of the inspection port with superglue. A second 3mm hole is drilled through the rear portion of the bowl to allow air to move in or out, but ingress of water is minimised.

You can also see a self centring device fitted to the tiller in the background.

Fitting - CB hold-down device.jpg

This shot shows a centreboard hold-down set-up. Two midget fairleads on one side of the slot joined by a tight loop of shock-cord. The shock-cord is pulled over the top of the board and secured under a nylon hook on the other side.
